Results of Midlife Crisis Poll

About a month ago, I proposed the idea that I’ve hit the midlife crisis phase of life, and I asked you to vote on what I should do to celebrate this joyous time. The results are in, and there is a tie for first place.

Many of you must not like my hair, because you think that first and foremost I should drastically change my hair. The other option that took first place is to take a trip. All of the other options were evenly split, except for “change my career.” Clearly, everyone knows I’m too old for that. Buy a new outfit also wasn’t voted for, probably because my clothes are already so stylish. Two write-in options not appearing above were “take a fun class like photography or cooking” and “pick up a hobby you enjoy.” Great suggestions, everyone! I’m kind of surprised that no one wrote in “write another book,” because that’s certainly an option.

Without further ado, I will now present what I’m doing for my midlife crisis.

First, we got a new pet. This is KitKat (formerly Leo), from the local animal shelter, and he is an absolute doll.

Secondly, I will be taking a trip … sort of. I went online to make an appointment for my 15-year-old to get his driver’s learning permit, but all nearby DPS locations are booked until at least August. So we will be driving about an hour and a half away to Corsicana in a couple of weeks. I hear there’s a Russell Stover outlet and other attractions there, so … tada! A trip!

I still may join a gym, but I will not drastically change my hair (sorry, folks). And no more master’s degrees for me, either. Let’s hope I’m done with my midlife antsy-ness. At least for now.
