Book Launch Party: My Cup Runneth Over
On the evening of June 12, 2021, I sit here reflecting on the many blessings in my life and all of the loved ones who have supported me and cheered me on throughout my book writing and publishing process. And I am overwhelmed and overjoyed. This morning I had my book launch party and first-ever book signing for Sitting on Top of the World, and despite my nerves, my awkwardness, my shyness, and my new jeans that I learned have a “quitter” zipper, it was a huge success. But I owe this to many, many people.
So much love!
My husband and kids: Chris King, who is my rock no matter the situation, not only helped me prepare and set up for the event, but he also stayed with me the whole three hours, took pictures, and made sure I was OK throughout the event. My lovely baby Carson did the same. You’ll find him in many of the pictures in his hiding spot behind my banner. My older son Hayden had to go to work, but he came by to show his support, and he brought a friend, which was an added bonus.
My family: My mom, Melody Luedke, oh my goodness, what a wonderful surprise she gave me — when we pulled into the parking lot, there stood my brother and his wife (Jason and Heather), who had traveled all the way from Houston for the event. I had no idea they would be here, and it meant so, so much to have them here for this! And the three of them helped and supported me throughout the event. My mother- and father-in-law, Linda and Michael, came and bought books, took pictures, and spent a great deal of time there with us, along with a friend they brought with them.
Friends: I am in awe of how many friends, old and new, came to celebrate this day with me, from people I used to work with in Grand Prairie, to people I work with now in Kennedale, to my Miss Fit friends, and even a student and her mom. I hope every single one of these lovely people know how much it meant to me to have them at my book launch party.
The Flying Squirrel: I am so thankful to The Flying Squirrel Coffee Company for providing a fabulous venue and being perfect hosts. All of my guests commented about how much they loved it there, and I heard many compliments on the coffee and frapuccino.
Guerilla Cupcakes: The awesome book-cover cookies, which tasted just as good as they looked, were made by Guerilla Cupcakes in Arlington, and I think they were the biggest hit of the day!
City Limits Publishing: I couldn’t have done any of this without my publisher. I am so blessed that they gave me the opportunity to put my book out into the world, and I appreciate the care they’ve taken with promoting me, my book, and my event. They let me take over their Instagram for the event! I think I messed up the live video I tried to do (the Facebook Live worked, but the Instagram one didn’t happen), but it was fun to post photos and stories anyway.
Supporters: Everyone who helped share, tweet, retweet, post, and in any way promote my book and book launch party, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. What may take just a couple of seconds means the world to me!
Now that the big launch party is done, we wait a couple more days for the official book release, and I don’t know what could possibly top this superb day — maybe some champagne and a nice nap.
I sincerely hope that everyone who bought my book finds something in it that they love. Reviews are always welcome on Goodreads, Amazon, City Limits Publishing, Barnes and Noble, Bookshop.org, the new StoryGraph, or anywhere book reviews can be submitted.
